Monday’s Adventures

We visited Lava Lands and went to the top of a lava butte for 360° of amazing vistas.  And I took only pictures of my kids.  Dang, I have to get better at this.

I love this shot of Grandpa carrying Piper and his youngest son (Dwayne) with his youngest.

Here’s the vacationing clan, minus Wesley, who is strapped in his car seat to prevent him from jumping over the non-fenced sides.  Actually, I only have it on the hearsay of others that it was beautiful—I was too busy trapping and carrying Wesley to notice!

Cousins Kara, Esther, and Isaac are the young’ns, Dwayne’s parents, Dick and Darlene, and Dwayne’s oldest brother, Dan and his wife Deborah.

Piper holds on to Cousin Kara’s hand on our walk around the rim.

We drove a little further down the road to some waterfalls.  It turns out there is a parking lot next to the falls, but we didn’t discover it until we hiked in (some of “us” carrying two children, because hot, tired, and cranky kids really prefer Mama).

Wesley finally decided it was okay for another mama—an aunt—to carry him around in the manner he has become accustomed.

Good thing I had this shot, because I don’t actually remember much smiling going on during the actually event.

Aunt Deborah has warmed up Wes and now he allows Kara to cater to his demands.

Deborah, Esther and I came back with my kids early and gave the kids time to wade (Mama: “No further than your knees…and I mean it!”).  It was a cheering time for all.

To get around “up to your knees” proclaimation, Kyla leaned forward to dip her chest in the water.  Is this faintly reminescent of last summer to my faithful readers (e.g. my mother)?

And guess who followed suit?
