The High Desert Museum

My parents have visited this museum often and so I was interested when I first saw the sign to Bend’s High Desert Museum just miles from Sunriver.

We had originally thought it could be a few hour visit, but after 5 hours, we still hadn’t seen quite all the exhibits.  It had fun elements for all the ages in our group.

(First, this was the view from our kitchen window this morning.  There were two does and 3 fawns nibbling their way between houses.)

Between the trout pond and sundry statues, we were well entertained before we even got to the front door.

Wesley, of course, managed to climb up on his own.

Dwayne got a little snooze with the kids tunneled, climbed, and dug in the children’s area.

Piper:  Look at the giant spider web to climb!

Climbing wasn’t enough of a challenge for Kyla and Piper, so they took turns flipping of the end.

We went back to 1904 on this homestead and we got to play with some toys from that area.  I was no better at keeping the wheel going with only a stick than any of my kids.

For a special treat, the kids were allowed to shovel sawdust from the mill.  Wesley was quite pleased to try a shovel.

We had get some uncle and cousin power to finish up our day.  Thanks, Dan and Kara!!
