A New Do!

Kyla's hair won't keep barrettes in (read: Kyla won't keep her barrettes in) but she loves her new pigtails! (Ignore the reflection in the mirror.)

Piper doesn't know what the fuss is, but she's enjoying it anyway.

The Avocado Incident. The Most Recent One, Anyway.

I was feeding Piper avocado when I got up from the table for some reason. When I came back, Kyla had taken over for me. It was cute enough to grab the camera. The video is pretty long, but I'm posting it so Grandma can show it to Kyla while Piper is in Mexico with us. As much as I'm going to miss Kyla this next week, I'm more worried about Kyla missing Piper and getting fairly distraught about where her sister is. So hence some of the downloads for Kyla.

And more pictures for Kyla to look at:

Birthdays

We minimally celebrated Kyla's 2nd birthday on September 1st (we were returning from a camping trip) and practically ignored Dwayne's 34th birthday a week later. But we made up for it with birthday cupcakes and cheesecake at the Hamilton Cabin this weekend with family by our side.

Taking a hint from the playgroup birthday party the week before, I made cupcakes with frosting for Kyla.

Dwayne got Keylime Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.

Uncle Brian helps Kyla unwrap a gift.

Piper, who just turned 7 months, gnawed on corn on the cob.

And just to show off, a picture with Daddy in their matching outfits.

At the Playground

It might as well be my birthday because, 7 months after Piper was born, I have purchased (on Craigslist, of course) the Nearly Perfect Double Stroller. However, that is not pictured here. After driving to Beacon Hill, Seattle, to buy it, the girls had had ENOUGH of the car so we went to a nearby park to eat and play. Each girl "kaboomed" once and giggled innumberable times.

Baby's First Truck Driving Course

Who's driving this thing?!?

Note: Kyla did not walk straight after this!

Another Guessing Game

(See previous post for answer.)

Put your hands together for.....

Piper! She's figuring out how to hit herself intentionally (we call it clapping, to be polite). Sorry about the crick in your neck...Mama still needs that "Hey, Stupid!" feature on her camera.

And the answer to the Guessing Game? Kyla, 6.5 months old, is sitting on the blanket. Piper, 7 months, is not.

Northwest Trek

It was a 4-Moose day at the Trek (which means, for the first time ever, I saw a moose from the tram--and then 3 more!). I took pictures of my favorite animals, but none of the four legged-kind.

The Icing on the Cake

I haven't loaded any of Kyla's birthday pictures ("I'm Two," she now says, holding up all five fingers), but this afternoon our playgroup held our group birthday party. Aubrey's parents made the minature cupcakes, but Kyla was only interested in the frosting. On four different cupcakes.

I'm Two. Me, too. And Me!

The playgroup poses for a portrait. Piper is the odd one out, of course, but she can sit up unassisted, so she's "in".
The three loves of my life.
(The fourth, chocolate, is not portrayed here, but is resting comfortably in our stomachs.)

Two in Diapers

When people give me strange looks and say increduously, "You have two in diapers? That must keep you busy," I always respond, "Yes, but it isn't the diapers that are the problem." Today, all that changed.
Trying to get both girls ready before leaving for playgroup, I put them both on the crib to change diapers. They love this. Kyla often reaches for Piper's hand and Pipes just wiggles her whole body with happiness. And so the problem began. Kyla had a very messy diaper (making me think for a while that she was even sicker than her cold suggested). While trying to clean her up, Piper wiggled close enough to put her big toe in it. I wiped her clean. Meanwhile, Kyla tried to move away and stuck her whole foot in it. I moved Piper back and cleaned up Kyla's foot in far more time than it took Piper to wiggle her way back and put her whole foot in it. Then she waved her foot around and kicked her other leg, smearing herself. I gave up, took Piper to the bathroom to wash her and then set her on the floor in the nursery. While I was MIA, Kyla got up and moved to Piper's side of the crib, siting down on her still unclean bottom. Sighing, I took Kyla's half naked self and just threw her in the bathtub to clean her up before changing all the crib bedding and flushing what I could.
So, yes, I do have two in diapers. And it is busy.
