Welcome, Cecily!

Julie (ahem, finally) posted that their baby girl was born earlier this week, so now I can shout out, too!

Julie and Keith (and their doctor) delivered Cecily Anne on Monday evening, August 6.  She’s perfect, of course.

I brought the kids to meet their new cousin the next day. August 280

Piper already wanted to hold her, the little mother.

“Mama, babies are so cool!  Can I eat it?”

I’ve very proud of my newest niece.  Welcome to the world and the best parents ever, little Cecily!

Pajama Bike Ride

We finished dinner a little earlier than usual, so we put the kids on bikes to (attempt) to use up their last little bit of energy.August 303

I probably need therapy, since the only child I have allowed to have a princess anything is Wesley’s bike, leftover from our previous housemate’s daughter.  He wanted a have a pedal bike that could be adjusted really low and this one fit the bill.  I’ll do better by you someday, my boy.

View from the Front Deck, 9pm

We really didn’t know how much we lucked out when we bought this house 9 years ago.  And this is from a camera that takes lousy lowlight pictures.

Family Adventure: Bowling

I had a coupon for a family afternoon of bowling that I had to use before it expired.  So on one of the hottest days of this summer, we hid out from the sun and went bowling.

This is a 3-picture snapshot of how it went:

1. Trudging to the lane with a 6-pound ball (all three used it—it was the lightest they had).

August 077

2.  Cheering for one’s self when the ball left one’s hands.

August 079

3.  Then waiting…waiting…waiting…for the ball to eventually make its way toward the pins.

August 080

Piper actually had the most accurate shot most often—hitting the pins straight on middle—and usually managed to knock over only 3 or 4 pins with the lack of momentum.

August 081

Wesley was thrilled with being able to throw a big heavy ball down, hear “THUNK”, and eventually see something being knocked over.  Might this be the pinnacle of his life?

August 083

“Oh, yeah, I’m bad. I’m bad!”

August 089

Daddy got a strike in the 10th round, pulling him ahead of Kyla by 4 points.

August 090

Mama won, but by the most unimpressive score (96 points).  And I was using the bumpers.

August 091

Our coupon deal included two hours of bowling, but just one game took an hour and a half and wore us all out.

Gotta Wear Shades

This morning is so bright that we’ve got to wear shades!  We spent an early morning at the park before shopping at the Farmers’ Market.

Perch

Kyla found a new favorite perch to enjoy the sun and her popsicle.August 054

Life’s a Beach…at the Beach

We met a friend (and her kids) at Juanita Beach for a little sun and sand.

Piper works hard every day to find ways to find to “make less work for Mama”.  She often volunteers to pull the wagon or push the stroller.  Wesley hitchhikes a surf ride.

August 018

Like my red dishes, Kyla’s outfits brighten my day.

Time for swimsuits now!

August 028

Kyla can go out into the water almost out of earshot and still only be up to her waist.  Then she can swim all she wants on her way back.  What a great place to take kids!

August 030

Wesley was truly torn between between drowning himself in knee-deep water and making sand piles to smash.
