Pacific Science Center

I asked the kids what they wanted to do today and Kyla immediately exclaimed, “A dinosaur exhibit!” as if she’d been practicing.  Anyone, does the Burke museum have such an exhibit?

Anyway,  I brought the kids to the Science Center for the first time today.  We all had a blast, and it wasn’t just the dinosaurs.

Love this shot!  What is she looking at?

This robotic Apatosaurus awed us all.

At first, Wesley thought the din0s were fantastic….as long as he was in the stroller.  But he warmed up quickly and ran around gleefully.

This example of a carnivore feeding frenzy fascinated us all.

Oddly, dinosaurs could only be topped by the butterflies.  SO COOL!

I’m labeling my children far too early, but Kyla shows quite the bent toward math and science.  Today, there was a presentation about satellite data and global weather systems.  There was a full audience at first, mostly of YMCA campers, but by the end (Piper had long since lost interest and was trying to nap in the stroller), Kyla was the only one under18 still in the audience.  And when the presenter said she would answer questions afterward, Kyla had her hand raised as she rushed over to her.  And then asked a fairly intelligent clarification question for a 5 year-old.  I’m telling you this because I’m just getting to know this part about Kyla.  She’s seeing herself as a scientist and I’m excited for her!

If I could just get the inconvenience and cost of parking at the Center, we’d visit more than once every 5 years.
