A Family Date

Our Sat urday night plans got canceled somewhat last minute, so we actually spend the evening just as a family! We got KFC and went to St. Edward’s Park in Kenmore. It has the best toys bar none.

5-30-09 Popsicles

We start off with a popsicle. Both girls insisted that Daddy’s lap was the best place to share a treat.

Seriously? You have an infinite number of picture possibilities and you take this one?

Enjoying the Sun

Woodinville’s DeYoung Park is across the street from Molbak’s, which is probably enough reason for this statue of “The Gardiner and Her Dog”. We obviously only cared about the dog half of the statues. Here, Kyla sits on its head.

I’m not sure if Kyla is dragging Piper or Piper is pulling on Kyla. The second is more likely.

Further Adventures in Breakfast

Everyone is enjoying a breakfast of waffles and yogurt. Dolly gets the honored booster seat and her own play waffle with imaginary syrup. Kyla is editing over my shoulder and says she is wearing a birthday hat! (Notice position of her apron hanging on the wall behind her.)

Family Reunion

Aunt Janet hosted a family reunion over Memorial Day weekend. Every time Piper sees Janet’s picture (with her two dogs) on the fridge, she points, “Dahg, Dahg!” and Kyla reminds me, “A lot of people at Janet house.”

We’ve been reading a book called Dinosaurumpus a lot lately, so Kyla was pleased to discover her very own dinosaur to ride.

Kyla, Isaac, and Piper played a fairly credible game of toddler soccer. The incredible part is that no one got hurt!

A Blank Canvas, or why I shouldn’t dress my girls in white

Kyla and Piper were filthy before lunch, so before their naps, I changed their clothes. Kyla wanted to wear the smock (old polo shirt of Uncle Brian) she had just received.

Still clean.

Rhubarb Season

A big, easy to grasp stalk with a fun wavy leaf that Kyla’s allowed to pick? What a perfect toddler garden! Thanks, Papa!

Uncle Brian!

The girls were quite pleased about their piggy pajamas and their uncle. I daresay Brian was even a little envious of said pajamas. At least, that’s what he told Kyla.

Deep and Wide

Jenny, a friend of our from church, taught the nursery school last Sunday.  Afterwards, she told me she had wanted to teach them a song so she sang “Deep and Wide”. I am glad she mentioned this to me so I had context for the following.

The next day, after a lunch of macaroni and cheese, Kyla stood on her chair and just started singing “Deep and wide, deep and wide, there’s a fountain (ow tun) flowing (o) deep and wide, deep and wide”.  I got several videos of her doing this as she was quite pleased with her performance.  Here’s the shortest:

For the hardcore followers (Grandmas), here’s one more:

The View From My Kitchen Window….

…has spots, but is nevertheless breath-taking.

sandbox 005

The girls love their sandbox on the back deck.  To be accurate, Kyla loves to play in the sand and Piper loves to eat the sand.

I put up a gate by the stairs so they can play safely outside while I cook and clean.  I thought this would make dinner much easier on me, but now I find myself bathing the kids while trying to finish dinner which is a complete impossibility.  (And to those who wonder why I bother bathing them before dinner?  Well, the next posting will be a picture of them before the bath. )
