Dizzy! My head is spinning....

These two clips are cute as Kyla attempts all sorts of difficult feats. Both are cut short as Kyla runs over to the camera to watch herself.

Piper turns 1! (plus one day)

Kyla chose her gift to Piper and then wrapped it mostly by herself. She probably also unwrapped it for Piper.

Piper’s new special dolly has her picture taken with Kyla’s special dolly, may she never get lost, amen.

Piper kind of gets into unwrapping and playing with her new Aquadoodle. At least it’s fun to tease Kyla with the other water pen.

Piper took a little convincing to get into her strawberry ice cream, but Kyla needs no encouragement to dive into the celebratory chocolate fondue.

Grandma Kruger knitted matching heart sweaters for Valentine’s Day and Grandpa Kruger made an animal train for Piper that matched the one he previously made for Kyla.

Whew! We got Pipes through her first year…..

Birthday girl

We decided to hold our annual Wine and Chocolate Fete on Valentine’s Day and postpone Piper’s celebration to the next day. She didn’t seem to mind and she enjoyed playing with the other kids regulated to the basement during the party. Notice the cute hearts all over her jammies—practically perfect for a Sweetheart baby.

Double Trouble

I  was browsing photos of Kyla when she was almost a year old and I came across this photo. It's such an unlikely Kyla expression that I've actually have never seen it except for in this one fluke picture.

 

I can write the identical paragraph for the picture of Piper below, taken at almost the same age as the one of Kyla.

A Ditty

We do a lot of silly ditties at our house, but this has become a household favorite over the last few weeks. It refers to one of my more useful accessories: my watch that I can easily set to beep after 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes.

Watch goes beep

Babies fall asleep

Mama gets to keep...

...her sanity.

Kyla sings it over and over, but I can never catch her on video. She pronounces "sanity" so clearly and emphatically without having any idea of its meaning.

One...Two....Three.....Fall!

Piper took her first three decisive steps today. Of course I didn't have the camera with me, but I eventually remember my phone. Naturally, this sort of event can't be recreated and I captured her taking only one fairly hesitant step.



Hmm, I was going to post at least that video, but it is truly terrible, so I won't waste your time.




















Instead, here is a little laundry humor. I often carry the kids up in the hamper or laundry basket so that I can accomplish two tasks in one trip, so I have several pictures of them like this.

Smile! (Oh, not quite that much...)

One of the games we play is "Let Me See" which is a little routine of me taking a bunch of shots so Kyla can then look at herself on the view mode. She was giving me her biggest "smiles" in these. Well, anything to brighten up a bowl of oatmeal.

And Piper is becoming just a bit more bashful about her smiles....
